Welcome to the Henderson Middle School Website. The purpose of this site is to share information about our campus and increase communication between our school and parents/community. We believe that technology is the way of the future and is the most economical way of preserving our natural resources as we inform you of our campus activities. Our website contains important information as well as upcoming events concerning the academic and extracurricular activities for the current school year.

Henderson Middle School is proud to be a part of "The Tradition Of Excellence" at HISD.

These are exciting times to be an H.M.S. Cub.  I have always said that this is the best middle school, with the best students, and the best teachers.  Our students proved that this last year.  HMS has received a "Recognized" rating from the Texas Education Agency.  This is the first time in its history that H.M.S. has received this rating.  We owe this honor to the hard work and dedication of our students and teachers.  They all deserve a big pat on the back for a job well done. 

I want to challenge our students and staff to keep up the hard work and always strive for perfection in what ever they are working towards.  I know that this will be the first of many "Recognized" ratings to come for H.M.S.

Student Success Initiative at HMS

The Student Success Initiative (SSI) was

created by the Texas Legislature to

ensure that all students receive the instruction and

support they need to be academically

successful in reading and mathematics.

Under the SSI grade advancement

requirements, students are required to pass the

Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills

(TAKS) grade 8 reading and mathematics tests to be

promoted to ninth grade.
