Northside students go the gym on a daily basis. They are supervised by 2 teachers and enjoy a variety of fun and exciting games that promote good physical fitness. Students play Round Robin Kickball Tournaments in the spring and fall. Net games such as Beach Bizarre which is a form of volleyball, ring tennis to develop catching skills as well as a game called Newcomb that uses a volleyball trainer. We also play several throwing and dodging games using soft, spongy balls such as Sink the Bismark, Combat, Birds on a Pond and Guard Duty. These ultimately lead up to Zulu, their favorite game. All of these games have many , many rules that teach self control and safe competition. Students also do lots of basketball drills, practicing fundamentals, lots of racing and Dance Dance Revolution. On the playground, our PTO has provided 4 nice soccer goals With all these activities, our kids are well-prepared for the state-mandated physical fitness test. |
